Chemical Computing Group and the ACS Medicinal Chemistry Division announce the establishment of the CCG Research Excellence Awards in Medicinal Chemistry

MONTREAL, Canada – September 24, 2013

CCG (Chemical Computing Group) and the ACS Medicinal Chemistry Division (ACS MEDI) are pleased to announce the creation of the CCG Research Excellence Awards in Medicinal Chemistry. The CCG Research Excellence Awards in Medicinal Chemistry were created to recognize outstanding graduate student research, and encourage the use of computational tools in the field of Medicinal Chemistry. The awards, together with our partnership with the ACS MEDI Division also hope to stimulate graduate student participation in ACS MEDI Division activities (symposia and poster sessions) at ACS National Meetings. A total of four graduate student prizes each consisting of a travel grant and a one year license for the Molecular Operating Environment (MOE) software program will be awarded every year. The 247th Spring ACS National Meeting in Dallas, Texas, marks the inception of the CCG Research Excellence awards at the Medicinal Chemistry Sessions of the ACS.

Established over thirteen years ago as part of CCG’s commitment to education, the Chemical Computing Group (CCG) Excellence Awards Program was created with the aim of recognizing and supporting excellence in academic scientific research. This year’s partnership with the ACS Medicinal Chemistry Division is an extension of CCG’s commitment. For further information on the Chemical Computing Group Research Excellence Awards, including how to submit an abstract to the competition, visit the ACS MEDI Division website at www.acsmedchem.org/CCGawards.html.
